TEN YEAR DROUGHT ARE: IF YOU LOVE TEN YEAR DROUGHT,
YOU'LL LIKE THESE BANDS: The band altered it's lineup once or twice, and settled on a four piece rounded out by Eric Arner (bass, vocals), Jean Raco (guitar), and Jamie Waldron (drums). This version of the band went on to record the critically acclaimed "motorists' prayer e.p.". In summer 2001, the band underwent yet another line-up change, which saw drummer Jamie Waldron and guitarist Jean Raco depart and Fox's longtime musical correspondent Colin Huebert took over drumming duties. Pared down to a three-piece, the band went on a tour spanning central and eastern Canada, and returned a road-tested, and tight ensemble. Following the tour, ten year drought took a hiatus as the members returned to finish university. In April of 2002, the band reassembled and began working on songs that would eventually comprise the material found on their forthcoming l.p, "The Laurentian Season". During the recording of the album, Craig Gloster joined the trio and broadened the band's sonic scope, adding piano and filling out the sound as the band continued to develop. The songs found on the Laurentian Season reiterate
the bands bias towards American music and they continue to blend folk,
pop, country and rock in the same sentimental, confessional style that
drew comparisons to Rex, Red House Painters and Giant Sand. And while
the new record contains the same deliberate, downbeat material that warranted
such comparisons, the 8 tracks that comprise the album represent a more
rhythmically varied collection of songs than found on their first release.
The band is anxious to tour and promote the new recording, and plans to
do so in the summer of 2003. DISCOGRAPHY: CONTACT TEN YEAR DROUGHT: Madeira
